Job Description: The Software Asset Management Specialist is responsible for managing the software assets of the organization effectively. This role requires extensive knowledge of software publishers, particularly IBM, VMware, SAP and Microsoft, Oracle to ensure compliance, optimal utilization, and cost‑efficiency. The specialist works closely with Program Managers, IT teams, procurement, finance, and legal departments to maintain accurate records, track licensing agreements, and support software audits. Key Responsibilities: Experience in creating process documents, frameworks and operating models with capabilities based on findings and recommendations. Experience designing Service catalogue workflows to automate Software Asset Management lifecycle. Provide license consultation to customers on various software applications. Implement software asset management (SAM) policies, processes, and procedures to activate SAM governance module. Conduct periodic internal audits to identify and address gaps or discrepancies in software license usage; monitor usage patterns and identify opportunities for software license re‑harvesting or re‑allocation. Provide recommendations on software optimization and license consolidation to reduce costs and ensure license compliance. Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate favorable licensing contracts with software publishers. Review software contracts end‑to‑end to understand purchase history, relationship between parent and child contracts, compliance, optimize usage, mitigate risks and analyze termination and renewal clauses. Experience handling a minimum of 5 Tier‑1 and Tier‑2 publishers: IBM, VMware, SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Redhat, Salesforce, and Engineering & SaaS applications. Detailing of ELP including full capacity on analysis of entitlement, usage summarization, identifying financial & compliance risk and cost optimization opportunities. Drive ELP findings with application owners, base on recommendations and obtain sign‑off. Participated in external software audits conducted by vendors/publishers to ensure accuracy and fairness. Mitigate risk of production outages in case of contract obligations with vendors; lead recommended remediation plan and actions. Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong knowledge of software asset management principles and practices and SAM tools such as Remedy, SNOW, ServiceNow SAM/HAM Pro. Knowledge of SAM tool architectural workflow. CSAM Certified is a plus. Solid problem‑solving and consultative skill set. Strong presentation, communication, multitasking, and time‑management skill set. Good communication skills with timely and accurate information sharing and active listening. Knowledge of creating project plans for clients. ITIL V3 or 4 certified. Audit readiness skill set.
