Overview Security & Emergency Program Advisor (Fire Safety) - Lower Mainland is a regular/full-time position based in Burnaby, BC. BC Housing invites applications for this role. Job ID: 6314 Location: Burnaby, BC Position: Security & Emergency Program Advisor (Fire Safety) - Lower Mainland Hours: Regular/Full-Time Salary: $85,649 - $100,764 Responsibilities Reporting to the assigned Manager, Security & Emergency Services, the Security and Emergency Program Advisor provides support for recommending strategies, procedures, and programs pertaining to fire safety, security, and emergency preparedness of staff, housing developments and tenants, facilitating their implementation across the province. They conduct safety and security audits and investigations and participate in emergency responses. The role assists with the provision of security services and systems for all building portfolios, completes threat and risk assessments, coordinates feasibility studies, and provides consultation on safety and security initiatives. The role also contributes to the development and provides advice on Business Continuity Plans for BC Housing offices and Non-Profit Housing partners. Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in risk management, criminology, security, operations management, emergency management, business continuity management or other relevant field. Considerable experience in coordinating the implementation of business continuity, safety and security, disaster response or recovery programs. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Employer. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of programs, practices and processes associated with security, safety and emergency preparedness, including CPTED, risk/threat assessment, and Target Hardening. Understanding of safety and security requirements for housing developments and related programs. Program development, analysis, and evaluation; building technology; knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal codes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and project coordination skills; excellent communication, facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills; public speaking and presentation skills; computer proficiency. Ability to coordinate program activities, analyze issues, make decisions during emergencies; build constructive working relationships; take ownership and drive tasks to completion; work under pressure and meet deadlines; work independently and in teams; travel province-wide; valid BC Driver’s License; Criminal Record Check is required.
