Summary As a Project Manager, Heavy Civil you will provide overall direction for one large or several smaller projects and successfully take responsibility for overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality and project status. The role involves overseeing operations of the project coordinator(s), superintendent(s), field coordinator(s), and quality control administrators while maintaining relationships with subcontractors and clients. Responsibilities Lead and oversee all aspects of the project to ensure it is delivered on budget and on time. Effectively lead the construction team and promote a productive work environment. Ensure that the corporate health and safety program is adhered to along with site‑specific regulations and requirements. Develop, monitor and adjust critical‑path schedules to achieve project milestones and implement processes, measures and standards that achieve productivity targets. Monitor performance against contractual requirements, execute corrective action when necessary to ensure compliance and identify, price and negotiate additional work. Develop the project budget for costs and revenue based on estimates provided. Review performance reports on costs, forecasts and revenue to identify risks and opportunities to improve financial performance of the project. Communicate directly with clients and subcontractors, developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships. Be responsible for documentation and correspondence, including site work, submissions, change orders, claims, payment certification, etc., ensuring timely and accurate correspondence with all parties. Ensure projects are built to quality specifications, monitor non‑conformances and improve operations to comply with all QA/QC requirements. Provide technical and functional direction and support to the project team to create and promote opportunities for direct reports to take on new responsibilities aligned with business needs. Qualifications 8+ years of hands‑on experience leading large highway, bridge or municipal construction projects from concept to completion. A professional certification like PMP, civil engineering background and experience managing some MTO projects preferred. Deep understanding of construction contracts, specification and best practices, combined with strong leadership and people‑management skills. Strong organization and time‑management skills. Excellent communication skills, including superior writing. Ability to interpret construction drawings. Complete understanding of job costing and forecasting. Significant understanding of provincial construction safety regulations and a proven record of safe project execution. Highly motivated, self‑starter with a commitment to high‑quality standards. Post‑secondary education in engineering or construction; P.Eng designation will be an asset.
