KPMG is seeking a Director or Senior Manager to lead Indigenous Advisory Services in Ontario & Atlantic Canada , (based in Toronto or Ottawa ), as part of our Infrastructure, Capital Projects, and Sustainability practice. This individual will be responsible for Ontario & Atlantic Canada market leadership, client delivery, people leadership, and growth of the Indigenous Advisory Services portfolio. The successful candidate will bring deep experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations as clients , as well as advising industry and government clients on Indigenous consultation, engagement, governance, participation, and partnership in the context of major projects, infrastructure development, and economic initiatives . A strong understanding of Indigenous equity participation, economic development, and commercial and financial structures that support Indigenous economic inclusion would be an additional benefit. Please note this is not a community relations role. What You Will Do Market & Practice Leadership Serve as the Ontario & Atlantic market lead for Indigenous Advisory Services, responsible for strategy, growth, and delivery excellence. Lead the development and execution of market plans aligned with KPMG’s Infrastructure, Capital Projects, and Sustainability priorities. Build and maintain senior relationships with Indigenous governments, organizations, and businesses, as well as public-sector and private-sector executives. Identify, pursue, and lead complex advisory engagements, including major projects, infrastructure programs, economic development initiatives, and governance transformations. Collaborate nationally with KPMG’s Indigenous Advisory Services leadership and Infrastructure, Capital Projects and Sustainability advisory practice. Client Advisory & Delivery Act as a trusted advisor to Indigenous clients, supporting Infrastructure and capital planning Economic development strategies and business planning Governance, organizational design, and operating models Indigenous participation, partnership, and ownership strategies in major projects Advise industry and government clients on Indigenous consultation and engagement frameworks Indigenous participation and partnership models Regulatory, policy, and rights-based considerations related to major projects Alignment with UNDRIP, federal and provincial legislation, and evolving best practices Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering integrated advisory services across financial, commercial, technical, policy, and governance dimensions. Indigenous Equity, Economic Development & Commercial Advisory Advise Indigenous governments, organizations, and businesses on equity participation, joint ventures, and ownership models related to infrastructure, energy, natural resources, transportation, and other major projects. Support the design and evaluation of commercial, financial, and governance structures that advance Indigenous economic inclusion while meeting lender, investor, regulatory, and partner requirements. Lead advisory engagements related to Indigenous equity investments and partnership strategies Economic development corporations and Indigenous-owned enterprises Project-related revenue sharing, benefit agreements, and participation frameworks Long-term wealth creation, sustainability, and intergenerational economic planning Work with Indigenous clients to align economic development objectives with capital planning, business strategy, governance, and risk management. Major Projects & Infrastructure Focus Provide leadership on Indigenous advisory components of large-scale infrastructure, energy, utilities, transportation, natural resources, and public-sector projects. Support Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients in structuring Indigenous equity participation in major projects, including early-stage planning, commercial negotiations, and long-term asset ownership considerations. Advise on the integration of Indigenous economic inclusion objectives into procurement strategies, financing structures, and project governance models. Collaborate with financial, legal, and technical advisors to deliver bankable, commercially viable Indigenous participation solutions. Business Development Lead proposal development, including shaping value propositions, pricing, and delivery models. Contribute to revenue growth through origination, cross-selling, and expansion of existing client relationships. Represent KPMG in the Ontario market through thought leadership, presentations, and external engagement. People Leadership & Firm Contribution Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across career levels. Actively participate in KPMG’s National Indigenous Network, Indigenous Advisory Circle, and related firm initiatives. What You Bring To The Role 10+ years of experience (Director) or 8+ years of experience (Senior Manager) in advisory, consulting, government, industry, or Indigenous organizations. Demonstrated experience working directly with Indigenous communities, governments, organizations, and businesses. Strong understanding of Indigenous governance structures and rights Consultation and engagement processes UNDRIP and related federal and provincial policy frameworks Major project development and infrastructure delivery environments Proven corporate, commercial, and financial acumen, including experience advising executive-level clients. Education & Expertise Undergraduate or graduate degree (or equivalent) in business, economics, finance, engineering, planning, public policy, Indigenous studies/governance, or a related field. Professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, PMP) considered an asset. Key Attributes Deep credibility and trust in Indigenous, public-sector, and industry contexts. Strong executive presence and communication skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to operate at both market-leadership and engagement-delivery levels. Collaborative leader comfortable working across disciplines, geographies, and cultures. Willingness to travel within Ontario and across Canada as required.
