Senior Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (Hybrid) Join the Kardium team and help make a difference in the lives of millions worldwide. Kardium has developed a ground‑breaking medical device for diagnosing and treating atrial fibrillation, a common heart rhythm disorder that can lead to stroke, heart failure, and other complications. Our flagship product, The Globe® Pulsed Field System, has received FDA approval and is now in commercial launch. As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be the first point of contact for any feedback or problems raised by the manufacturing team. You will optimize production workflows to maximize throughput and yield, identify opportunities for process and product enhancement, and design and implement improvement projects in collaboration with design engineering. Responsibilities Define, develop the business case and implement equipment and process improvements for current and next‑generation products Plan capacity, equipment and infrastructure needs for new production lines and scale‑up activities (including support of new manufacturing sites, outsourcing to suppliers or OEMs) Plan manufacturing floor layouts for current and future product designs to maximize efficiency Manage equipment design, fabrication, upgrades, qualification and implementation for production and training centre equipment Lead design and manufacturing process workflow reviews Review manufacturing process cycle time trends and workflows, and develop strategies to remove capacity bottlenecks Collaborate with design and quality engineering to determine root causes of ongoing quality issues and drive implementation of appropriate solutions Provide input into product designs as part of the design‑for‑manufacturability process Serve as a process subject‑matter‑expert (SME) and assist with identification and delivery of technician training requirements Provide front‑line support to the manufacturing team for process and equipment‑related issues Lead or participate in Lean and Kaizen events and drive continuous improvement projects Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, bio‑engineering or industrial engineering 10+ years’ experience in design or manufacturing engineering in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostics or medical devices Experience with value‑stream mapping, design for manufacture, and change‑control management Experience with statistical process controls, lean manufacturing, Kaizen and Six‑Sigma (preferred) Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness Experience in developing manufacturing floorplan layouts based on activity‑relationship analysis (desirable) Compensation Base salary: $95,000 – $115,000 CAD annually (plus 5% RRSP contribution) Permanent employee may also participate in Kardium’s stock‑option plan Benefits & Well‑being Comprehensive medical & dental coverage effective Day 1, no waiting period Paid time off: 3 personal days per year plus company holidays RRSP contribution and corporate stock‑option plan Support for overall well‑being, including professional membership support and career progression resources Family‑building benefits: top‑up for maternity, adoptive and fertility‑drug treatment leave Work‑day flexibility and hybrid work arrangement (located in Burnaby, BC) We encourage applications from all qualified candidates who represent the full diversity of all communities.
