Qualimet, a reputable Materials Engineering Company, is actively seeking skilled Third-Party Structural Steel Inspectors to join our exceptional team. As a Structural Steel Inspector, you will play a crucial role in maintaining quality control standards for fabrication and installation operations in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Code and client specification requirements are implemented and completed on site.
  • Read and Interpret engineer’s drawings such as P&ID's, and isometric drawings.
  • Documentation review of 3rd party records including NDE, MTR’s etc.
  • Responsible for visual Inspections of welds, dimensional verification, weld mapping and Red Line Drawings.
  • Creation of Pressure Test Packages and witnessing the testing
  • Responsible for Material Traceability including recording and verifying welds and heat numbers.
  • Create and ensure compliance to ITP’s.
  • Coordinate and assist in assembling turnover documentation.
  • Perform visual inspections of fabrication and installation operations, as well as completed welds, using Qualimet prescribed checklist and standards.
  • Assure quality control is maintained as per applicable codes and regulations.
  • Assist in the documentation of In-Process and Final Inspections, updating job files, deficiency lists, progress reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Manage time and journeys efficiently, prioritizing safety in all aspects of the job.
  • Participate in company training sessions and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • CWB Level II Certified Welding Inspector
  • Proven success as an inspector with a strong customer service focus.
  • Competent knowledge of NDE processes as well as ASME B31.3and CSA Codes
  • Related experience in Industrial Mechanical Construction and Quality Control
  • General experience and knowledge in earthworks, geotechnical, formwork and concrete, super-structural steel, architectural, and/or infrastructure would be considered an asset.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the other members of the project team.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • CSA W178.2 Level II Certification with W47.1 (must have), W47.2 (preferred) code endorsement.
  • CGSB Level 2 or higher for magnetic particle (MP) inspection (must have), liquid penetrant (LP) inspection (preferred), and ultrasonic inspections (UT) (preferred).
  • ABSA Welding Examiner would be beneficial.
  • Valid full class 5 driver's license and ability to travel to sites within Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Safety certificates: WHMIS 2015, Fall Prevention (OSSA), AWP, Confined Space Entry.
