Canada Women in Payments Full time

About KOHO We’re on a mission to make financial services better for every Canadian. That means no hidden fees, no predatory interest rates – just financial products designed to help our users spend smart, save more, and build real wealth. We’re a performance organization with a strong heart: we care deeply about outcomes, and everything ties back to our mission – to financially empower a generation of Canadians. At KOHO, we’re not your average 9‑5. We believe real impact comes from people who are trusted, empowered, and supported to do their best work – without sacrificing their lives to do it. We prioritize work‑life integration, not just work‑life balance. That means asynchronous collaboration, flexible hours, and a remote‑first setup built around autonomy and high trust. KOHO is entering its next chapter – leaner, smarter, more AI‑integrated. We’re building for impact, not bureaucracy. If you thrive in environments that value clarity, ownership, and bold thinking, you’ll fit right in. About the Role KOHO is seeking an exceptional leader in Credit Risk who combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution to lead and scale our credit risk management function. In this role, you’ll define the credit risk vision, drive strategy across product lines, and ensure robust risk practices are embedded into our decisioning, analytics, and operations. You will build and lead a high‑performing team of risk professionals and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to drive innovation in credit risk management practices. What You’ll Do Architect and execute KOHO’s credit risk strategy across all lending products. Build and scale teams, managing multiple levels of talent responsible for credit risk modeling, strategy, reporting, and governance. Design and implement credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and credit lifecycle strategies (origination, limit management, collections, and recovery). Define and monitor key credit risk metrics, portfolio trends, and early warning indicators. Drive data‑driven decision‑making in product development, pricing, and growth initiatives. Lead credit risk governance and deliver strategic insights to internal and external stakeholders including the Board, risk committees, and investors. Partner with Finance on portfolio forecasting and debt facility management. Lead regulatory examinations and maintain relationships with regulators on credit risk matters. Ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance, including IFRS9 reporting and credit loss provisioning. Present to and advise the Board Risk Committee on credit portfolio performance, emerging risks, and strategic initiatives. Own budget accountability for the credit risk function. Establish strategic partnerships with credit bureaus, data providers, and risk technology vendors. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration. Mentor and develop future credit risk leaders across the organization. What You’ll Need 15+ years of experience in credit risk, including 7+ years in a leadership role. Extensive expertise in consumer credit risk across the lifecycle—preferably in fintech, challenger banks, or alternative lending environments. Proven track record building credit risk functions through high‑growth phases. Experience managing managers and directors across modeling, strategy, and risk analytics. Expert knowledge of credit data, scoring systems, and risk governance frameworks. Proven track record influencing senior stakeholders and working cross‑functionally. The ability to communicate complex credit risk concepts to diverse audiences. Hands‑on experience with risk infrastructure, decision engines, and reporting tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to the Board and executive leadership. Passion for developing inclusive teams and mentoring talent. #J-18808-Ljbffr
