The Department of Justice is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the Manager, Justice of the Peace Services position. The incumbent reports to the Director of Justice of the Peace Services. The Manager is responsible for co‑managing all Staff Justices of the Peace (SJPs) for the Provincial Court in Winnipeg along with the administrative support staff for Judicial Justices of Peace. Duties The Manager, Justice of the Peace Services coordinates the work assignments, performance and attendance management, reviews, and makes recommendations to superior on operational issues. The incumbent acts as the primary contact for justice system stakeholders, including the law enforcement and ensures that the proper court procedures are followed for laying information, issuing warrants, and processing protection order applications. Qualifications Essential: Experience managing staff and resources including performance and attendance management, developing learning plans, training, coaching, and assigning workload Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure Ability to work with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders Excellent written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non‑technical audiences Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with the legal professionals, law enforcement agencies, self‑represented litigants and the public Excellent leadership skills Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment Experience with change management Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) or compatible programs Desired: Experience with other justice related database applications (CCAIN, Timeline Management System (TMS), and COMs) Experience in developing operational policies and procedures Experience with the Criminal Justice system, such as interpreting the Criminal Code, federal and provincial statutes, and related policies and procedures of the Provincial Court Conditions of Employment Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must provide and maintain satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks, and Enhanced Security Screening Must qualify for an appointment as a Staff Justice of the Peace pursuant to statutory requirements, including must be a resident of Manitoba Must be able to work overtime when required with little notice Must be able to be on an on‑call rotational schedule for evenings and weekends Must be able to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday Apply to Advertisement # 44719 Talent Acquisition Human Resource Services 600-259 Portage Avenue Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2A9 Phone: Fax: Email: To be considered for this competition you must submit an application form and resume.
