Legal Counsel – Alberta Health Services Join to apply for the Legal Counsel role at Alberta Health Services . The position reports directly to the General Counsel and will support the provincial health agency in delivering primary care and public health services to Albertans. You will join the Primary Care Alberta team effective November 18, 2024 and work closely with Executives, Senior Leaders and Health Shared Services. Key Responsibilities Draft, review and negotiate agreements and legal documents. Provide legal advice on corporate governance and regulatory compliance. Advising on legal risks and liabilities associated with transactions and handling the legal aspects of acquisitions and divestitures. Liaise with Legal Shared Services and external counsel as needed. Collaborate with Senior Leaders to provide legal insights on program initiatives. Stay updated on and communicate changes in laws and regulations that impact PCA. Develop and implement legal strategies to protect and promote PCA’s interests. Handle matters across corporate and commercial law, litigation, labour & employment, and health law. Required Qualifications Law Degree from an accredited university. Licensed to practice law in Alberta and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta. Minimum of 10 years of legal practice experience, preferably in a healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a healthcare organization. Experience working with government ministries. Experience collaborating with Senior and Executive Leadership.
