As SelvamPA enters its next phase of rapid growth, we are seeking a Consultant/Senior Consultant who will help deliver high-impact results for clients across North America. You are comfortable managing multiple files, translating complex political developments into clear, actionable advice, and supporting senior leaders in advancing both client and firm objectives. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly, and recognize that consistent, high-quality delivery is the foundation of long-term client trust and growth. Role Overview This role is primarily focused on client service and delivery (approximately 70%) , with a meaningful business development and firm-growth component (approximately 30%) . The exact mix will vary based on experience level (Consultant vs. Senior Consultant) and performance over time. Key Responsibilities Client Service ( 70%) Support and/or lead the execution of government relations, stakeholder engagement, and communications strategies for assigned clients. Conduct political, policy, and stakeholder research; prepare briefing notes, decks, research papers, memos, monitoring reports, and presentations. Assist with lobbying activities, stakeholder outreach, and meeting preparation, ensuring alignment with client objectives. Draft client-facing materials, including updates, strategic recommendations, and backgrounders. Track deliverables, timelines, and action items to ensure projects remain on schedule and to a high standard. Support compliance-related activities, including lobbyist registration filings and record-keeping, as required. Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and partners to deliver integrated mandates efficiently. Business Development & Firm Support ( 30%) Support business development efforts through research on prospective clients, sectors, and policy opportunities. Contribute to proposal development, pitch materials, and background research for new opportunities. Assist in monitoring political, legislative, and procurement developments that may create client or firm opportunities. Participate in SelvamPA's thought-leadership efforts, including newsletters, LinkedIn content, and internal idea development. Build and maintain professional relationships that may contribute to future opportunities as your role and seniority grow. Participate in media, speaking, marketing and public facing opportunities to elevate your and the firm's brand. Qualifications Required 2-5+ years of experience in public affairs, politics or government. Strong understanding of Canadian federal and/or Ontario political and policy environments. Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven, entrepreneurial environment. Professional judgment, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and LinkedIn. Assets Experience supporting lobbying or stakeholder-engagement initiatives. Familiarity with lobbying compliance, legislative processes, or procurement frameworks. Experience in an agency, consultancy, political office, or government setting. Comfort with digital communications tools, monitoring platforms, or AI-enabled research tools. Exposure to U.S. or cross-border policy environments. Compensation Competitive contractor compensation plus performance-based commission, commensurate with experience and seniority, with opportunities for performance-based increases and expanded responsibility over time.
