Project Manager - Building Science & Building Restoration Location: Cambridge, Ontario Compensation: $90,000 - $140,000 + Bonus + Relocation Assistance (if required) ABOUT THE ROLE A leading building restoration and engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Manager with strong Building Science expertise for its Cambridge, Ontario office. This position offers the opportunity to manage restoration, assessment, and building envelope projects while working closely with clients, contractors, and internal technical teams. If you enjoy hands-on site work, technical leadership, and driving projects from assessment through construction completion , this role provides the perfect mix of engineering, project management, and client-facing interaction. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Capital Planning & Technical Review Prepare and lead Reserve Fund Studies (RFS), Performance Audits (PA), and Building Condition Assessments (BCA) . Assess site conditions and recommend required restoration or rehabilitation projects . Interpret Declarations, By-laws, Shared Facility Agreements, and legal survey drawings. Utilize expertise in Ontario Building Code , Property Standards By-laws, Tarion Guidelines, Condo Law, and warranty processes. Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery. Building Condition Assessments Perform and oversee site reviews, component evaluations, and technical analyses . Review building drawings and specifications to identify deficiencies and repair needs. Prepare and present repair options and cost estimates. Support long-term capital planning strategies for various property types. Building Restoration & Building Envelope Provide technical leadership in building envelope remediation including: Curtain wall & glazing systems Wall assemblies & cladding Roofing systems Balcony and structural components Parking garage rehabilitation Above- and below-grade waterproofing Conduct building science diagnostics , testing, and investigations to determine root causes. Develop and recommend restoration solutions tailored to client goals and budgets. Project Management & Execution Oversee the full project lifecycle including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and delivery. Prepare or review technical specifications, tender documents, and schematic designs . Conduct contract administration and manage relationships with contractors. Mentor and support Project Associates and technical staff. Ensure all deliverables meet client objectives and quality expectations. Client Relationship Management Maintain strong, proactive communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle. Respond promptly to inquiries and provide clear guidance and recommendations. Seek client feedback and implement improvements. Identify additional opportunities for work at client properties. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Technical Background Minimum 5+ years of experience in building science consulting. Experience in Building Envelope Restoration, Capital Planning, BCAs, and Restoration Project Delivery . Professional designation preferred: P.Eng . Strong background in preparing specifications, proposals, BCAs, technical reports, and cost estimates . Experience working on multi-residential, commercial, institutional, municipal, or community housing properties. Core Skills Strong leadership and team mentorship abilities. Clear and professional written and verbal communication. Analytical thinker with a solutions-oriented mindset. Highly organized with strong prioritization and planning skills. Adaptable, driven, and comfortable working in dynamic field and office environments. Excellent client service approach; confident in presenting and interacting with stakeholders.
