POSITION SUMMARY: As a Functional Safety Engineer Student, within the Engineering Business Systems team, you will support the implementation of vehicle functional safety best practices at New Flyer and MCI. Working alongside industry experts, you will assist with ISO 26262 compliance, support safety analyses, and contribute to documentation and project activities in a hands-on learning environment. Review and verify engineering documents, Instructions to Service, and other applicable documentation. Collaborate with engineering design teams to deliver functional safety work products and support their implementation. Coordinate tasks and deliverables to meet project schedules, deadlines, and lead times. Maintain communication with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information flow. Participate in engineering meetings and additional meetings to support continuous improvement initiatives. Provide weekly status reports, including completed and outstanding actions. WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary engineering program, with a preference for Electrical or Software Engineering. Eligible to work in Canada and available to meet the required work schedule and work arrangement for the duration of the term. Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety standards and work product implementation is an asset. Experience with safety analysis methods such as FMEA, FMEDA, FHA, HAZOP, or FTA is an asset. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
