Senior UX/UI Designer – Accessibility (Contract, Canada) Location: Remote (Canada-based) Type: Full-time Contract Duration: 6 months, with possible 12-month extension Start: January 2026 Clearance: Public-sector background check may be required We’re seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer with a strong foundation in inclusive design and accessibility best practices . This role involves shaping digital services to be usable and welcoming for people of all abilities, languages, and identities — with particular care for those facing digital barriers. You’ll collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to improve the way public-facing systems are designed and experienced. Your work will support both short-term improvements and long-term accessibility maturity. What You’ll Do Design inclusive, accessible user interfaces and flows that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA. Co‑lead or contribute to accessibility reviews, usability testing, and user research. Create and adapt design assets like journey maps, prototypes, and wireframes with equity and access in mind. Partner with developers, researchers, and service teams to ensure a consistent, accessible experience. Share knowledge and lead coaching sessions or design critiques with a focus on access, dignity, and usability. What We’re Looking For 6+ years’ experience in digital design or service design. Strong understanding of barrier‑free design principles, including cognitive, sensory, and motor considerations. Familiarity with assistive technology use cases; lived or community experience is valued. Experience working with or contributing to design systems (e.g., Figma, Sketch, or equivalent). Able to explain accessibility considerations in plain language and collaborate across disciplines. Experience designing in regulated or government settings is an asset but not required.
