Intermediate Systems Engineer – AJISS Engineering Change

Position Summary Thales Canada, Defence & Security (TCDS) supports the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) through its In‑Service Support (ISS) Programs. Thales provides support to over 70% of the RCN fleet, delivering preventative and corrective maintenance, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Program Management, Engineering and Lifecycle Material Management (LCMM), and new capabilities. We are looking for Naval Architects, Mechanical, Systems, and Electrical Engineers and Technologists to contribute to Engineering Change (EC) in the AJISS program. Key Areas of Responsibility Tailor the system engineering process, practices and tools. Provide timely and accurate status updates. Develop the preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements. Review and validate internal and subcontractor designs, plans, and schedules. Identify, characterize, and describe issues through problem reports and document and design reviews. Author technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including architecture, interfaces, and installation elements. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs meet end‑user needs, desires and concerns. Support the development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures. Collaborate with other functions during implementation and integration of the system and subsystem designs. Resolve technical issues during implementation, integration and testing of system and subsystem elements. Support installation and/or integration testing of systems remotely or on customer site. Manage technical subcontractors, including work scope and compliance with supplied solutions. Typical Duties for This Project Conduct research on Naval Systems, System Requirements, Standards and new technologies. Generate, describe, and recommend solutions to customer concerns as part of the option analysis process. Produce engineering artefacts including drawings, system schematics, Statements of Work, System Requirements Documents (SRD), Impact Analyses, and technical reports. Survey and analyse shipboard systems. Plan, author, and execute integration and acceptance tests. Coordinate and collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary dispersed team. Basic Qualifications 4 to 6 years of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems in commercial and/or military domains. Ability to succeed in cross‑functional/multidisciplinary teams. Ability to obtain clearances as specified under Regulatory Compliance. Education University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline. Preferred Experience and Skills Naval Architecture. Marine Electrical. IPESA. C4 Combat Systems in any domain. Internal / External Communication Systems in any domain. P. Eng designation considered an asset. Physical Demands Minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment, connecting equipment in a lab or on site. Special Position Requirements Full‑time, standard business hours. Possibility of travel to east or west coast sites for technical support or installation onboard ships in dock. Compensation Total Target Compensation (TTC) 86,138.88 – 154,432.71 CAD Annual.
