About the Role We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead our infrastructure scaling efforts as we prepare for significant growth in transaction volume. You'll own critical infrastructure decisions and strengthen our security posture as we grow from processing $1B to $10B+ and beyond. This role involves designing and implementing the infrastructure foundation for Canada's next generation of financial services—systems that are compliant, secure, scalable, and built to handle high‑stakes financial transactions. What You'll Be Doing Design and implement infrastructure to support rapid growth in transaction volume while maintaining high reliability and performance Architect and maintain PCI DSS 4.0 and SOC 2 Type II compliant infrastructure across all production systems Own and optimize our Google Cloud Platform infrastructure including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Deploy, BigQuery, and KMS Manage and evolve our Terraform codebase for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management Build and maintain observability systems using Datadog for application performance monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, and alerting Lead security initiatives including encryption strategies, secret management, network security, audit trails, and compliance automation Optimize infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency at scale Collaborate with backend engineers to deploy, monitor, and optimize the handling of Chexy's payment processing systems Establish infrastructure best practices and mentor engineers on DevOps and cloud architecture Who We're Looking For 5+ years of infrastructure/platform/DevOps engineering experience, with at least 3+ years of hands‑on Google Cloud Platform experience Deep expertise with GCP services including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Deploy, KMS, and GCP networking Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI), containerization (Docker), and deployment automation Experience with production observability tools like Datadog for APM, infrastructure monitoring, log aggregation, and alerting Strong understanding of security practices including encryption, secrets management, IAM, network security, and compliance frameworks Track record of building and maintaining high‑volume, high‑availability systems with strict SLAs Experience with incident response, troubleshooting production issues, and writing clear postmortems Ability to communicate technical decisions effectively to both engineering teams and leadership Self‑directed with strong ownership mentality and attention to reliability, security, and performance Bonus Points Experience with financial systems, payment processing, or fintech infrastructure PostgreSQL performance tuning and scaling (we use Cloud SQL + Prisma) Redis optimization and caching strategies Direct experience with PCI DSS or SOC 2 compliance initiatives Contributions to open‑source infrastructure projects Experience with Vanta or similar compliance automation tools Cloudflare configuration and optimization NestJS or TypeScript microservices architecture Why Join Chexy?
