Board Director Opportunity | Friends of Canadian Media Friends of Canadian Media is seeking experienced leaders to join its Board of Directors. Founded in 1985, Friends of Canadian Media has been an independent, non‑partisan voice defending Canadian media and cultural sovereignty for nearly 40 years. We are looking for Board members with strong judgement, governance experience, and the capacity to contribute today and step into future leadership roles. About Friends of Canadian Media Friends of Canadian Media is a national citizens’ movement that stands up for Canadian voices in media, including public broadcasting, news, culture, entertainment, and online civic discourse. We receive no government funding and do not accept donations from political parties or CRTC‑regulated entities. Who we’re looking for We welcome candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance, audit, and risk (CPA an asset) Board governance (ICD.D an asset) Technology, digital platforms, and AI Public policy, regulation, government relations, or advocacy Journalism or broadcast media Fundraising outside large corporate models Arts and culture leadership Francophone lived experience and cultural insight, with understanding of Quebec’s media, policy, and cultural environment Several of these roles align with planned Board and Committee leadership succession. Time commitment Three‑year term, renewable Quarterly Board meetings (two in‑person annually) Service on at least one Board committee This is a volunteer Board role.
