Together, we influence systems change, and foster inclusive, youth‑centered solutions that enable young people to thrive and belong. We work with all young people, with a focus on women and displaced populations. WUSC currently operates in 28 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Canada, with an annual budget of approximately CAD $65 million. Our global team includes over 100 staff in Canada and more than 250 staff internationally, implementing a diverse portfolio of development projects in collaboration with numerous multilateral and bilateral donors, and philanthropic foundations. Amongst other global programs, WUSC manages the world’s‑longest standing refugee education pathway, known as the Student Refugee Program. Over 40+ years, nearly 3000 students have been resettled to Canada to begin their studies. Each year, WUSC works with a network of 100+ sponsoring post‑secondary institutions, and 1200+ volunteers to provide peer‑to‑peer support to arriving refugee students, fund the costs of sponsorship, and to advocate for institutional and policy changes that support refugee inclusion both on and off campus. Responsibilities Refugee Sponsorship and Compliance Govern the annual cycle for refugee sponsorship commitments, including coordinating the launch, collection, detailed review, and final approval of all annual sponsorship commitments. Support the annual SRP matching process in collaboration with the Regional SRP team and SRP Operations Team. Design and conduct rigorous monitoring and quality assurance activities across the LC network to ensure compliance with all requirements of the Private Sponsorship of Refugee (PSRP) program. Coordinate the allocation of the SRP Growth and Retention funds annually. Provide guidance to the Regional SRP team to use with Local Committees to effectively prepare for and respond to sponsorship audits conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Provide clear, effective leadership to the Regional Team to proactively respond to and manage refugee sponsorships and when breakdowns occur, ensuring compliance and the well‑being of SRP students. National Program Coordination Provide strategic direction to the Regional SRP Team, coordinating their activities and engagements with Local Committees, SRP Students, and SRP Alumni. Coordinate the annual SRP training plan in collaboration with relevant WUSC teams, ensuring alignment with program goals and compliance standards. Coordinate the design and development of training content, tools, and resources for the SRP implemented by the Regional SRP Team to strengthen sponsorships. Manage the delivery of training and travel logistics for the Regional SRP Team, ensuring efficient and effective support for the SRP nationwide. Support the delivery of training to LCs as required. Coordinate communication to Local Committees, SRP students and Alumni to ensure content is accurate, timely, and streamlined for relevant audiences. Develop and monitor annual budget and expenses related to the Regional SRP Team activities, training and travel. Provide oversight on the maintenance and development of relevant SRP workplans (training, campus mobilization, Salesforce). Monitoring, Evaluation, Reflection and Learning (MERL) and Reporting Ensure that relevant modules are in place to effectively collect data and monitor refugee sponsorships. Review, and analyze annual data collection to formulate recommendations to inform program improvements. Provide quality control of SRP data collection, conducting regular data audits for quality assurance. Identify best practices across the program to document and share lessons learned, supporting donor reporting requirements. Task manage Program Officer, SRP Operations and Data Management on relevant program activities. Team Leadership and Human Resources Provide comprehensive day‑to‑day management support and leadership to the SRP Regional Team, including managing workflows, assigning tasks, coordinating processes, providing advice, direction and coaching and ensuring quality of deliverables. Manage the performance of all direct reports using WUSC policies and procedures, supported by consistent coaching, mentorship, and professional development. Other Support implementation of special streams of the SRP as required. Identify, develop, and implement improvements to systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and impact of the SRP. Other related duties. Qualifications and Competencies Bachelor degree in social sciences, global development, project management, business administration, or in a related field. Minimum of Seven years of experience in the development and/or management of projects/programs including 5 years of experience in team management. Extensive technical experience in WUSC’s areas of programming: inclusive education, skills for employment, inclusive market systems development, youth empowerment, women’s economic empowerment. Knowledge of frameworks and good practices of labour standards (familiarity with hospitality and tourism sector, HR employment needs and labour laws, an asset). Proven ability to work productively with a variety of stakeholders to run participatory processes and meet tight deadlines with an emphasis on producing quality products. Excellent capacity building skills, with demonstrated experience in effective training, coaching and facilitation. Experience in the following areas: Refugee resettlement or settlement sector Newcomer employment and labour standards, job development Canadian immigration system and processes Building and strengthening partnerships with private, public and academic sectors Project management Proficient computer skills. Effective interpersonal and influencing skills, including the ability to build relationships, network, communicate effectively in a cross‑cultural context. Strong personal initiative, resourcefulness and capacity to work individually and as a team. Demonstrated capacity to work remotely. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Superior communication skills (oral and written), with a clear, concise, persuasive writing style. Excellent facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to motivate others.
