In return, we promise to provide support, opportunities and performance-led financial rewards at a workplace where you can shape the future, win as a team and grow with us.About The RoleWe're looking for a Senior Underwriter in Property and Casualty to join the team in our downtown Toronto office.As a Senior Property and Casualty Underwriter in our Commercial Lines department, you will play a pivotal role in networking and building strong relationships with brokers, contributing significantly to the growth of a profitable book of business. Your superior customer service and sales skills will be essential as you make informed business decisions while analyzing and selecting risks in property and/or liability insurance.This is a permanent full-time position and requires a minimum of 2 days at the Toronto 700 University Ave office location.What You'll Do HereDevelop long-term and meaningful relationships with brokers by providing legendary service and participating in broker visits, field underwriting, insurance industry functions, and marketing events. Assess and evaluate moderate to complex risks, analyzing requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes and recommend innovative solutions. Coach and mentor team members to develop their technical underwriting knowledge and to enhance broker relationships. Help shape the future of Commercial Lines Underwriting by providing creative solutions on process or workflow improvements to increase efficiency and elevate best practices Provide leadership to ensure that the regional underwriting service, production and profitability levels are achieved. Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with Company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits. Within your level of authority, quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of moderate to complex new business, renewals, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business according to the business plan established for the department. Arrange reinsurance if and when required. Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers, reinsurers and co-workers. Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions. Travel required to attend broker meetings at local broker offices. What You Bring To The TableMinimum 5 to 7 years of Commercial Lines Property and Casualty Underwriting experience Proven broker relationships and profitable business writing Exceptional customer service, communication, and negotiation skills Strong understanding of market conditions and trends Effective decision-making and a track record of mentoring and training Underwriters Positive, adaptable, and solution-oriented attitude Self-driven with strong organizational skills and ability to handle pressure Analytical and flexible to change CIP designation is an asset Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools Eligible to work in Canada; no prior Canadian work experience required This job posting will close on Friday June 13th, 2025 at 11:59 pm EST.What We OfferOur hybrid work model provides the balance between working from home and enjoying meaningful in-person interactions.Working Here Means You'll Be Empowered To Be And Do Your Best Every Day.
