Reporting directly to Peoples Group’s CEO, the role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing our transaction banking services (payments and deposits) while supporting financial innovation across the organization. You will lead the strategy and management of solutions for fintechs and consumers, leveraging emerging technologies and market trends to enhance the organization’s strategic direction and competitiveness. You will be instrumental in managing the institution’s financial health, driving business performance, and identifying new opportunities for growth. As a key member of the leadership team, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that our financial strategies align with both short-term goals and long-term objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of financial markets, advanced management of payments and deposits products, and emerging financial technologies. You will be a visionary leader with the ability to navigate complex financial challenges, while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration across the payments and deposits teams. About You As the Senior Vice President of Payments & Deposits, you will bring a wealth of experience and a forward‑thinking mindset to the evolving landscape of payments and deposits. You have a proven track record of leadership in deposits and the performance of the bank’s payments and deposits products across all client segments. You are a results‑oriented individual with deep expertise in overseeing payments and deposit products, including business accounts, savings, GICs and payments solutions such as EFT, bill payment, Interac eTransfer, and credit card issuing and acquiring. You thrive in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment and have the ability to communicate a strategic vision and have consistently driven growth and optimised financial performance across complex organizations. You are known for your ability to anticipate market trends, proactively address financial challenges, and actively implement forward‑looking solutions that align with organisational goals. About The Day To Day Strategic Leadership Define and execute the long‑term vision and roadmap for payments and deposit products, including business accounts, savings, GICs and payments solutions such as EFT, bill payment, Interac eTransfer, and credit card issuing and acquiring. Lead strategy to modernise the bank’s payments infrastructure in alignment with Payments Canada modernization efforts (e.g., RTR). Serve as the board‑facing leader with credibility to engage effectively with executive leadership and board members. Act as a visible ambassador for Peoples, enhancing brand recognition through strategic social media engagement and public speaking. Maintain a best‑in‑class understanding of market trends, translating insights into actionable strategies that inform internal decision‑making and external positioning. Champion the bank’s voice in the industry by contributing to thought leadership initiatives, including white papers, webinars and media commentary. Product Innovation Oversee the full product lifecycle from ideation to launch and optimisation. Drive product profitability, pricing strategies and customer experience enhancements. Monitor market trends, fintech partnerships and emerging technologies to inform product development. Risk Management Excellence Ensure risk management and compliance with OSFI, FINTRAC and Payments Canada regulations. Collaborate with Technology, Operations and Risk to ensure robust and scalable product delivery. Leadership & Talent Development Lead and inspire a high‑performing team of product strategists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members. Set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations. Encourage collaboration and open communication within the team to drive innovation and efficiency. Recognise and reward outstanding performance, promoting a positive and motivating work environment. Develop succession plans to ensure continuity and stability within the department. Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into team processes and workflows. Qualifications Minimum of 20 years of experience in banking with deep expertise in payments and deposits products. Proven track record of leading large‑scale product transformations and digital initiatives with executive presence and thought leadership capabilities, representing the bank at industry conferences, panels and public forums. Strong understanding of Canadian regulatory frameworks and payments ecosystem. Strong understanding of the Canadian Fintech ecosystem and market trends. Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred. Typical hours are Monday‑Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with flexibility around start/end times. The position is based in Toronto; candidates residing outside of the area may need to relocate.
