The Department of the Premier and Cabinet has established the Native Title Future Acts Unit (the Unit) to provide strategic oversight and leadership of Native Title Act future act matters across the Western Australian public sector. There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling within the Unit in policy, advisory, future acts negotiations and strategic projects and initiatives. About Us The Department of the Premier and Cabinet supports the Premier as head of the WA Government. It is a central agency that leads the public sector in providing advice and support to the Premier and Cabinet in service of the WA community. The Unit is part of the broader Aboriginal Engagement directorate and provides whole‑of‑Government strategic direction and facilitation for Government‑led Native Title Act future act negotiations, which supports the clean energy transition, decarbonisation, economic diversification and opportunities for native title holders. About the Role The Project Officer assists in the management of projects, or components of complex projects, to support the Unit’s role in providing leadership, coordination and advice on Native Title Act future act matters. Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role you will have well‑developed skills and experience in: Providing assistance for the management of projects or components of complex projects and advising on and supporting project development and coordination. Liaising with and advising stakeholders, reporting and coordinating stakeholder engagements and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships. We are looking for team members with outstanding leadership characteristics. You will understand the Department’s objectives and your work will contribute to achieving results through your own initiative. You will use information effectively, apply analysis to resolve problems and demonstrate willingness to further your knowledge and skills. Application Requirements Applicants must submit: A comprehensive CV detailing qualifications, skills, experiences and key achievements relative to the position, including the contact details of two referees (at least one being a current or recent supervisor). A 2‑page cover letter detailing your experience, skills and knowledge in conceptual, analytical, research and report‑writing skills, with clear ability to synthesise complex information into concise written recommendations, reports and briefings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to influence and achieve desired outcomes. Permanent Appointment To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the Western Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia at the time of applying.
