Recruiter at Alquemy Search & Consulting Director, Tax Operations Technology "Hybrid" work environment 3 - 4 days per week in downtown Toronto office The Director, Tax Operations Technology, serves as the technology owner and is accountable for the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of the Global Tax Technology team in Toronto, with a focus on portfolio modernization. The role is responsible for defining and executing the Tax Operations technology strategy to mitigate operational risk and deliver business value, in partnership with Global Wholesale Operations stakeholders and regional Technology teams. The Director ensures all initiatives align with internal governance standards and applicable tax regulations across Canada, the United States, and international jurisdictions. This is a brand new role, first hire within the group. Desired skills & experience 10+ years of professional experience This is a technical role, seeking an experienced developer who has worked in Tax Technologies Technology is Java, Kafka, Sybase Proven track record of implementing tax technology solutions in financial institutions. Strong knowledge of global tax regulations and compliance frameworks. Familiarity with data analytics tools and emerging technologies (AI, RPA). Responsibilities Define and execute the Tax Operations technology roadmap aligned with the Bank’s digital transformation strategy Lead implementation of tax engines, automation solutions, and integrations with books and financial systems Ensure accurate, secure, and consistent tax data management and reporting across global jurisdictions Establish controls and technology solutions to meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., FATCA, CRS, BEPS) Drive innovation through automation, AI, and analytics to support tax forecasting and scenario modeling Partner with Tax, Finance, IT, Risk, and other global stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions Embed modern delivery practices, including Agile, Lean, DevOps, and Design Thinking Oversee delivery and support of multiple complex applications and technology initiatives across business lines Lead capacity and demand planning across the tax technology portfolio Build and lead a high-performance, inclusive team (5–7 staff) through coaching, talent development, and succession planning Base salary and compensation Base salary is in the $170,000 - $190,000 range Flexible related to experience +Bonus If you're interested, please apply with resume.
