18-month contract Observability Engineer role with a global enterprise organization working within their rapidly growing engineering team. 6-month contract Observability Engineer role. Global enterprise organization. Onsite work arrangement, with 4 days a week in office. What & Why: As a result of investment in technology our global enterprise organization is looking to add an Observability Engineer to their engineering team. This role focuses on overseeing technology monitoring and observability solutions across the organization. Supporting a Technology department of over 1,200 engineers, you'll work as part of an enablement team that collaborates with vendors like Datadog and Splunk to drive observability maturity, establish best practices, and provide training and onboarding support. The position requires hands‑on technical expertise in instrumenting Datadog (APM, Infrastructure, Serverless, RUM) and Splunk, helping application teams migrate to modern observability solutions while working closely with internal stakeholders and vendor TAMs to resolve implementation issues, improve documentation, streamline processes, and empower end users across the enterprise. They have invested majorly in technology and have had an incredibly successful past few years, including a major strategic acquisition. They have an all-star leadership team who keeps you accountable and provides support while still affording you tremendous autonomy. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have an in office work arrangement, 4 days a week in office. You: You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role: 4+ years of hands‑on experience with observability solutions, specifically Datadog (APM, Infrastructure, Serverless, RUM) and Splunk for logging and monitoring. 2+ years of experience creating rules and advanced logic for observability platforms, with proven ability to establish and enforce monitoring standards and best practices. Experience with infrastructure automation and mass deployment tools such as Ansible or Terraform for migrating application servers, rolling out observability agents, and managing large‑scale updates. Hands‑on experience implementing and configuring observability solutions in Kubernetes environments, with knowledge of Docker, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), high‑availability backend systems, and familiarity with CI/CD, agile methodologies, and enterprise compliance requirements (PII/CCPA/GDPR). Compensation: This role pays between $75-90 per hour.
