As an Amazon Technical Support – Mechanical Colo Regional Engineer, you will provide full life‑cycle support to data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the go‑to engineering resource in your region, offering subject‑matter expertise and collaborating with diverse teams to deliver the highest standards for safety, security, capacity, and cost efficiency. Responsibilities Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for new and existing data centers in your region. Troubleshoot, conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA), and create corrective action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures. Provide technical support and training for operational issues, complex operating procedures, essential equipment, and event support. Support design for data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency. Lead and review designs for co‑location (colo) data center upgrades in partnership with operating partners. Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health & safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability. Work on concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions. Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers; produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation. Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover. Exhibit strong engineering judgment, data‑driven decision making, and the ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty. Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design teams. Be willing to work in the field to observe and understand performance firsthand. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience with electrical and mechanical systems. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas. Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities. Experience in commissioning. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer license. Experience with building codes and regulations for your region. Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
