About the Opportunity The Hamlet of Kinngait is looking for a full time Director of Municipal Works and Services based in Kinngait, Nunavut. Reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery, management and administration of all municipal works, transportation services and essential community infrastructure. In this position, you will be primarily responsible for leading the water and sanitation program, municipal road operations, waste management services, and the maintenance of hamlet vehicles, equipment and public buildings while ensuring safe, efficient and reliable service delivery for residents. Responsibilities Managing water treatment, delivery schedules and sanitation operations across the community Overseeing road maintenance, snow removal, dust suppression and signage Maintaining the solid waste management system and landfill site Coordinating inspections, repairs and maintenance of hamlet buildings Managing vehicle, heavy equipment and stationary equipment maintenance programs Leading, scheduling and supporting public works staff and contractors Monitoring safety practices and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures Administering departmental records, inventories, work orders, budgets and reporting About You To qualify, you will need proven supervisory experience in municipal or public works, or a related trades environment, with strong skills in team leadership, staff management, project coordination and hands on service delivery. Ideally, you will have a Journeyperson Certificate in a related trade or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Required Qualifications Hold a valid provincial or territorial driver’s licence Hold or have the ability to acquire and maintain Standard First ווידין with CPR and AED Ability to work in varying weather conditions and handle physical aspects of the job Ability to undergo a criminal records check Preferred Skills and Background Demonstrated leadership experience guiding and supporting diverse teams Knowledge of water, waste water and sanitation systems Understanding of road maintenance, snow removal and heavy equipment operations Proven ability to manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs Experience coordinating building inspections, repairs and safety compliance Ability to oversee contractors and ensure service standards Strong communication, decision making and problem solving skills Proficiency with basic computer applications and record keeping systems Benefits Compensation based on skills and experience is a competitive annual salary of $120,000 – $135,000 plus a $21,092 Northern Living Allowance and a host of excellent benefits including: Comprehensive extended health benefits package Pension Plan with >8% employer match Subsidized three bedroom furnished housing for $750 per month, including power, heat and water Relocation support, including flights for the successful candidate and eligible family members, hotel coverage during travel, and cargo allowance Two fully funded return flights per year from Kinngait to Ottawa Generous leave package including up to 30 days of vacation and management leave Dedicated vehicle for personal use while living in the community Opportunity to live in a close knit and culturally rich Arctic community known for world renowned Inuit art, traditional outdoor activities and breathtaking northern landscapes If you share our values and have the skills needed to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply today #J-18808-Ljbffr
