Network/Cyber Technical Architect Job Location: Hamilton / Nanticoke Job Type: Contract About the role Our client is seeking a highly skilled Network/Cyber Technical Architect to join our Information System Services team. This full-time contract role will be based onsite in Hamilton supporting both Hamilton and Nanticoke facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable network architectures that support business operations. This role will report to the Manager of Information System Services. Your day-to-day (5 days onsite at the Hamilton Works and/or Nanticoke offices) Key Responsibilities Design and document secure network architectures based on business and technical requirements Hands-on knowledge of network segmentation, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and Next Generation firewalls is mandatory Develop and maintain network diagrams and documentation for LAN, WAN, cloud, and hybrid environments Configure and manage networking hardware and software including routers, switches, and firewalls Implement and monitor network security protocols including VPNs, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust frameworks Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to align network solutions with strategic goals Lead network-related projects from design through implementation and support Stay informed on emerging technologies and cybersecurity trends Evaluate and recommend new tools and platforms to enhance network and security posture Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field Preferred certifications (any): CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) Preferred certifications: CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) TOGAF, SABSA, or NIST SP800-53 (for enterprise architecture frameworks) Technical Expertise Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, cloud, and hybrid network architectures Proficiency in network security tools and protocols Knowledge of threat modeling, risk assessment, and incident response Familiarity with SIEM, identity management, and secure coding practices Hands-on experience with firewall design, intrusion detection, and encryption technologies Communication Strong communication and interpersonal skills Proven project management and organizational abilities Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset Ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced environment Your work environment Normal, fast-paced office environment for a high impact team Pay Disclosure The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows: Junior: 0-5 years of experience in area of specialty – up to $80/hr Intermediate: 6-9 years of experience in area of specialty – up to $95/hr Senior: 10+ years of experience in area of specialty – up to $115/hr Compensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
