Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Director of Finance / Controller to join a high-growth mining company transitioning from exploration to early-stage development. With strong economics outlined in its 2025 Preliminary Economic Assessment and fresh capital secured through a significant private placement, the company is scaling operations and needs a senior finance leader to strengthen reporting, governance, and internal controls. This role is the first internal hire in finance and will report directly to the CFO. You'll play a critical role in building the financial infrastructure needed to support project advancement, audit readiness, and investor-grade reporting. It’s a rare opportunity to shape finance from the ground up as the company advances one of Canada’s most exciting mining districts. Responsibilities Lead the establishment of a monthly financial close process by year-end Own financial reporting, including working papers, board materials, and MD&A support Develop and document internal controls suitable for a TSX-V listed issuer Manage relationships with the company’s external accounting service provider and auditors Strengthen accounting policies, capitalization practices, and disclosure controls Build management reporting that links spend to project milestones and cash runway Maintain GL accuracy in accounting systems Support treasury management, including cash forecasting and vendor terms Prepare for future finance system upgrades as the company scales Participate in occasional travel to the project site for systems alignment and team engagement Requirements CPA or equivalent accounting designation required Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting and reporting experience Public company experience is required, ideally in mining or a capital-intensive sector Proven ability to set up and lead finance processes in lean, hands-on environments Familiarity with disclosure obligations and reporting to boards or audit committees Strong systems orientation; experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Beanworks is helpful Practical, solutions-focused mindset with strong relationship and communication skills Remuneration Base salary: $150,000 to $165,000 Short-term incentive: 10% target Long-term incentive: 10% target, with upside for over-performance Competitive benefits package Only candidates eligible to work in Canada will be considered Horizon Recruitment Inc. is a specialized recruitment and search firm with two complimentary practice areas: Finance & Supply Chain. #J-18808-Ljbffr
