Partnering closely with the National Medical Director and the Operations leadership team, youu2019ll play a key role in elevating care in our practices while supporting VetCareu2019s ambition to be Canadau2019s leading provider of high-quality veterinary care.This is a unique, full-time opportunity to harness your medical expertise, operational savvy, and financial insightu2013all while supporting passionate teams dedicated to outstanding patient and client care.Your Impact: Key ResponsibilitiesChampion High Standard of Care: Educate and influence veterinary teams to embrace current medical thinking and deliver outstanding patient careBuild Strong Relationships: Collaborate with Regional Operations Managers, Practice Managers, and veterinary teams to foster continuity, teamwork, and excellenceu00a0Coach and Mentor: Spend time in each clinic, observing, coaching, and mentoring veterinarians both individually and in groupsProvide Hands-On Care: Work three days per week as a practicing veterinarian, supporting clinics and patients directlyDrive Continuous Improvement: Use reports, medical records, and on-site observation to enhance diagnostic, treatment, surgical, and dental skills across the regionEnhance Team Efficiency: Work with Practice Managers, Veterinarians, and Associates to improve time management and the effective use of technicians/technologists and technologyu00a0u00a0Attract Top Talent: Partner with Talent Acquisition to identify and assess DVM candidates and represent VetCare at industry and campus eventsFoster Engagement: Organize and lead regional meetings, support DVM development plans, and define medical goals alongside Regional Operations ManagersStrengthen Clinic Culture: Conduct regular doctor and team meetings to build a positive, supportive clinic environment, while introducing/encouraging a collaborative environment between DVMs and support teamsSupport New Graduates: Develop and oversee mentorship plans for new veterinarians, ensuring their successful integration and growthOptimize Equipment: Evaluate and maximize the use of medical equipment to improve clinic efficiency and patient outcomes.Manage Complaints: Address veterinary board and client complaints with professionalism, collaborating with the National Medical Director and the practice leadership teams to reach resolutionsSupport Well-Being: Connect with and support Managing DVMs and associate veterinarians to ensure job satisfaction and overall well-beingShape the Future: Act as a thought partner with the National Medical Director, contributing to the development and implementation of new protocols and guidelinesMinimum QualificationsDoctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited universityPreferred: Experience in clinical leadership and clinic management, ideally within a multi-location environmentLicensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in the province of AlbertaMinimum 5 years of practical clinical experience in small animal medicine with strong clinical skills in medicine, surgery and dentistryStrong relationship-building and communication skills to foster collaboration with veterinary teamsAbility to promote and implement medical programs in a collaborative environmentProficiency in using data-driven insights to identify opportunities and drive targeted improvements in patient outcomes and team effectivenessSpecial Working ConditionsFlexible schedule and availability requiredu00a0u00a0Must be based in Calgary as the majority of clinics are within easy driving distance.u00a0 Occasional travel within the region and to other locations will be required for clinic support, meetings and conferences .u00a0u00a0If youu2019re ready to lead, inspire, and elevate veterinary care across Western Canada, we invite you to join VetCare as our next Regional Medical Director (Alberta).Apply today and help shape the future of veterinary medicineAbout VetCareVetCare (vet-care.ca) is proud to be a product of Canada with a community of veterinary practices, based in Vancouver with passionate team members across Canada.
