Assistant Vice President, Production - Reinsurance Operations Join to apply for the Assistant Vice President, Production - Reinsurance Operations role at Munich Re . Position Overview The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Production – Reinsurance Operations, oversees reinsurance production for North American Life and Health, including treaty processing, client data management, and retrocession agreements. In this key leadership role, you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure initiatives align with business objectives and set strategic directions, all while upholding the highest standards of operational excellence and compliance. You will directly support the VP in driving change and shaping culture across North America, and work closely with the COO to deliver on strategic priorities. You will inspire and energize a dynamic team of over 40 talented professionals, spanning multiple locations, as you drive excellence in Reinsurance Production and Treaty & Retrocession Management. As a dynamic leader driven by a commitment to data excellence and continuous improvement, you will inspire a culture of innovation and high performance, ensuring the timely delivery of critical data that drives financial reporting and organizational success. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to drive meaningful change and play a pivotal role in optimizing reinsurance operations through the development and integration of AI solutions, with direct responsibility for operationalizing AI in production environments. Your Role Lead the team to ensure prioritization of clients, data streams, and financials with the greatest impact on organizational results, focusing resources where they drive the most value. Partner with Finance and Corporate Actuarial teams to ensure data integrity, support financial reporting, and align operational outputs with actuarial and accounting requirements. Lead regular reviews of premium, claims, and inforce data to identify discrepancies, missing information, or mapping issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain data quality and compliance. Ensure that all client data, including billing, claims, and inforce records, is onboarded, validated, and reconciled in a manner that supports monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Lead communication with clients to resolve data issues, improve reporting processes, and ensure that all required data is received and processed according to contractual and regulatory standards. Oversee and lead the Treaty & Retro teams which include adherence to treaty terms and retrocession contracts. Partner with stakeholders and clients to maintain operational excellence, compliance, and data integrity throughout all treaty and retrocession activities. Ensure treaty and retrocession data is maintained to the highest standards of quality, completeness, and accessibility for business units and clients. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Recruit, develop, and retain top talent within the production, treaty, and retrocession division. Mentor and guide staff to drive professional growth, innovation, and high performance. Forge strong partnerships with internal teams, clients, and retrocession partners to streamline data flow, resolve issues efficiently, and align on operational objectives. Champion production operations in cross‑functional projects involving treaty management, compliance, retrocession, and process enhancements. Keep senior management and stakeholders informed with timely updates on production metrics, compliance matters, and strategic priorities. Cultivate a team environment rooted in collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. AI-Enabled Operations (Future Focus) Plan for the integration of AI tools and automation developed by the organization to support production, treaty management, compliance monitoring, and data validation. Ensure the team is trained and equipped to leverage AI solutions for operational efficiency, enhanced decision‑making, and proactive risk management as these tools become available. Monitor the effectiveness of AI‑enabled processes and recommend enhancements to maximize business value once implemented. Your Profile Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; advanced degree or insurance designations (LOMA, FSA, FCIA) preferred. 10+ years of operations and (re)insurance experience, with deep expertise in production, treaty, and retrocession management. Over 7 years' experience leading high‑performing operations teams, and proven ability to manage complex operational processes and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment. Strong understanding and knowledge of treaty compliance, retention limits, risk transfer mechanisms, and reinsurance contract administration. Experience in leading Business Transformation Initiatives leveraging automation tools for reinsurance administration processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated experience with analytics, SQL, Power BI (PBI), and related technologies. Process improvement expertise, including Six Sigma or similar methodologies. Foster a culture of curiosity and passion for data, encouraging team members to explore new approaches and challenge the status quo.
