Android Engineer

We are a top revenue-driving brand in the Match Group and offer hybrid work in downtown Vancouver, with in-office days Monday to Wednesday and remote work the rest of the week. We are looking for an Android Engineer to support our live-streaming squad. You will have the opportunity to build and maintain features used by millions of users daily. Live streaming is a top product offering with high visibility across the organization. We have a team of passionate engineers who work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are seeking someone to contribute to this effort. Responsibilities Work with a passionate team of engineers to create apps that encourage social interactions and help form real relationships Architect, build and iterate on major components and new product features for Plenty of Fish apps Work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative cross-functional environment and share expertise to solve complex problems at a large scale Proactively identify areas for improvement, diagnose issues and collaborate with other team members to resolve them Partner closely with design and product teams to continuously improve our applications Work in a data-driven environment implementing AB tests and working with analytical application data Actively contribute to the codebases powering one of the top social applications on Google Play; work with Modern Android Architecture: Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow Qualifications 4+ years of Android development experience with in-depth experience building and shipping complex Android applications using Kotlin and Java Experience building and shipping mobile applications using React Native Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, multithreading, and networking Knowledge of debugging, profiling and optimizing Android apps for performance Ability to write clean, maintainable and testable code while maintaining high standards of code quality Experience in building apps consuming REST APIs Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills We would love to hear from you, even if you don’t match 100% of the requirements.
