Job Description Our highway engineering team is at the forefront of delivering a wide range of MTO design projects, from highway expansion to bridge replacements. As a member of our Highway Engineering Team, this role will focus on the technical aspects of project delivery, particularly utilizing InRoads/OpenRoads software. We're looking for someone who enjoys tackling technical challenges and stays current with advancements in technology and software tools. Join us and contribute your expertise to projects such as freeway widening and interchange reconstruction in Barrie, roadway rehabilitation across Northern Ontario, and intersection designs in Southwestern Ontario, shaping the future of transportation infrastructure in Ontario. Key Responsibilities Act as a highway engineer for MTO preliminary and detail design transportation projects. Provide technical guidance, support, and oversight to junior engineers and technical staff working on projects. Prepare designs for highway facilities ranging from freeways, urban and rural multi‑lane and two‑lane facilities, interchanges, and intersections. Prepare technical reports, contract documents, design drawings, quantity estimates, and cost estimates. Create plans, profiles, and design quantities in Civil 3D/InRoads/OpenRoads Design format. Complete initial site inspections/field work for design assignments. Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Keep current on the latest design tools and aids in CAD/Civil 3D/MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads Design in consultation with senior CAD staff. Qualifications University degree in Civil Engineering. Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible to be licensed with one year. Developed an excellent reputation working with MTO. Experienced with highway engineering and has worked in or has an understanding of the consulting engineering environment. Knowledge of highway engineering, including policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures. Demonstrated experience in detail design work with proven design capabilities. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with clients, and other relevant stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and ability to think creatively. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance. 4 to 7 years of progressive‑related experience in highway design, including MTO highway design.
