Mortgage Underwriter, Third Party Residential Underwriting-MBBS Join us at First National Financial LP as a Mortgage Underwriter in our Third Party Residential Underwriting Department. Job Summary The Residential Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for rendering credit decisions on incoming applications within authorized limits, ensuring adherence to company and insurer policies, and maintaining service excellence. Responsibilities Render credit decisions on mortgage applications within authorized limits. Apply due diligence when reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy and protect the company from risk. Manage files from commitment to completion of broker conditions. Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers and external partners such as insurers, appraisers, title companies, and solicitors. Collect required documents and verify their accuracy for income, down payment, and property details. Escalate documentation issues to the Underwriting Manager. Document clear and complete notes within the mortgage underwriting system. Respond to inquiries within established turnaround times. Adhere to policies and procedures to satisfy AML requirements. Maintain high volume processing with tight turnaround times. Required Skills & Attributes Relationship building and conflict resolution. Strong communication (written & verbal). Analytical and detail-oriented thinking. Organizational and time‑management skills. Team‑player mindset with mentorship abilities. Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making. Basic PC proficiency, especially Microsoft Office. Ability to handle pressure in a high‑volume environment. Knowledge of AML processes. Required Experience Post‑secondary education or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 2 years of mortgage underwriting experience. Completion of Mortgage Agent Course and/or FSRA License (asset). Working knowledge of Windows office software. Working Environment Office environment with high‑volume periods. Extended periods of stationary sitting and screen time.
