Reporting to the Manager, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Paediatric the successful candidate will: Be a key member of the team, you will support interprofessional collaboration across the continuum of care, contributing to excellence in patient outcomes, service delivery, and staff engagement. The Child & Youth Counsellor works as a member of an inter-professional team to provide assessment, meal support, behavioural counselling and supportive therapy to children and adolescent clients and their families admitted to the Eating Disorder inpatient beds. We value the unique perspectives each candidate brings to our organization.**What you will be doing:*** Work as a member of an inter-professional team to provide assessment, meal support, behavioural counselling and supportive therapy to children and adolescent clients and their families admitted to the Eating Disorder inpatient beds.* Acts as a role model and champion to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.* Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.**What you bring:*** Child & Youth Worker Diploma (3 year program), or B.A. in Child & Youth Care* Current membership in Ontario Association of Child & Youth Workers* Crisis intervention training, e.g., Crisis Prevention Institute course or equivalent is preferred* Three (3) to five (5) years relevant work experience* Experience in a mental health setting important, with knowledge and professional applications in services for adolescents with severe mental health disorders: knowledge and experience working with adolescents with eating disorders is preferred* Hospital treatment experience* Experience working on inter-professional team* Systems approach; including client’s family and inter-professional team.* Demonstrated experience and confidence in clinical skills, team participation and professional reports to staff, family, community and physicians* Innovative and willing to learn* Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal* Demonstrated problem assessment skills* Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork* Demonstrated individual leadership skills, with experience in taking initiative and program development* Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment.* Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion* Models behaviour that is aligned with the values of Southlake Health.Southlake Health is fully committed to a culture of belonging and an inclusive environment that encourages every team member to lead within their role, generate innovative ideas that reinforce our mission and goal to create a healthy workplace where our community can thrive.Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.We are committed to a selection process and work environment that is inclusive and barrier-free.
