Director of Safety, Risk & Fleet Management Reporting to senior executive leadership, you will play a critical role in protecting people, assets, and operations while strengthening a culture where safety and accountability come first. In this position you will work closely with Operations, HR, and executive leadership to drive compliance, reduce risk, and deliver measurable improvements that support long‑term operational excellence and customer trust. Base Pay Range $110,000 – $130,000 per year Requirements English (written and spoken) Background check (criminal record and credit check) Key Responsibilities Lead the organization’s fleet safety and compliance strategy, ensuring regulatory adherence, asset protection, and driver safety excellence. Oversee fleet programs including IFTA, licensing, permits, insurance, maintenance, and cost controls. Lead the organization’s Fleet Safety Program, incorporating incident trend analysis, root cause investigations, and targeted prevention initiatives. Maintain strong partnerships with insurance providers, overseeing claims management to minimize risk and loss exposure. Champion the continuous enhancement of driver onboarding, training, and performance management programs, ensuring alignment with corporate safety KPIs. Leverage data analytics and advanced reporting to drive operational improvements, proactively identifying risk, improving fleet utilization, and strengthening compliance oversight. Lead and oversee company‑wide health and safety programs, inspections, committees, and corrective action planning across all facilities. Collaborate with HR and Operations to oversee WSIB claims, conduct incident investigations, and implement effective workplace injury prevention programs. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive site and product security measures, including CCTV monitoring, access control, alarm systems, and secure freight handling procedures. Ensure ongoing compliance with CTPAT, PIP, and other applicable regulatory programs, maintaining audit and inspection readiness. Conduct regular security assessments and establish rapid response plans to address vulnerabilities and mitigate risks. Lead the development and continuous improvement of the company’s risk management framework to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational, security, and regulatory risks. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and industry associations. Ensure the organization remains audit‑ready, fully compliant, and adaptable to evolving regulatory and industry standards. Implement standardized investigation protocols, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and leverage data‑driven reporting to identify trends and inform decision‑making. Provide strategic leadership and hands‑on operational guidance to departmental teams, fostering collaboration with Operations, HR, and other key stakeholders. Collaborate with executive leadership to align fleet safety, risk, and compliance initiatives with organizational goals and financial objectives. Respond decisively to escalations, incidents, and critical events, ensuring coordinated and effective resolution. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and embed a “Safety and Security First” mindset across the organization. Oversee the departmental budget, driving cost containment, operational efficiency, and strong return on investment. Manage vendor relationships to ensure high‑quality service, contractual compliance, and competitive pricing. Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities through process improvements, training, technology adoption, and strategic vendor negotiations. Skills and Qualifications 7+ years of progressive experience in safety, fleet, or risk management, preferably within transportation or logistics. Proven leadership experience in complex, high‑volume operational environments. Strong working knowledge of IFTA, CTPAT, PIP, WSIB, and regulatory compliance frameworks. Advanced analytical skills with experience using data to drive safety and performance outcomes. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, data visualization tools, and fleet management systems. AZ license or hands‑on fleet experience is considered an asset.
