The Power Construction Services team at Aecon is bringing engaging large-scale engineering, procurement and construction solutions for customers across Canada. The service offering includes high voltage transmission towers, substations, EV charging stations, battery energy storage plants / facilities, power line installations and the integration of these solutions to the overall power grids. Reporting to the Procurement Team Lead, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing related activities of these products and for ensuring the delivery of materials/services to the site occurs on time, at the right price the first time. This is an 18 month contract opportunity What You’ll Do Here Develop and execute procurement strategies to secure high-quality materials, equipment, and services for EPC projects. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable agreements for the company. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and align procurement activities with project timelines. Implement sustainable procurement practices, considering environmental and social impacts in supplier selection and sourcing decisions. Ensure that procurement activity is ethical and adheres to the Project Procurement Policy. Adhere to Aecon preferred supplier sourcing footprint. Create purchase orders in SAP, ensuring accuracy in material master usage and develop/include project and purchase order specific terms and conditions. Document control and document management of all procurement related activities for tracking and communication purposes. What You’ll Bring To The Team Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement, preferably in the energy sector. Previous experience working on major projects with procurements spend greater than $5M. Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to secure advantageous deals with suppliers. Knowledge of sustainable procurement practices and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (SCMP) is a plus. Self‑starter who approaches his/her work with a sense of urgency. Able to handle multiple competing tasks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Technical understanding of SAP.
