About The Role The Head of Engineering leads Molsoft’s frontend and backend teams, driving scale, performance, and process excellence. Blending strategy, operations, and Shopify expertise, you’ll work cross-functionally with PMs, designers, and tech leads to turn client goals into robust commerce solutions. Though not primarily coding, you’ll guide architecture, tools, team structure, and delivery quality; ideal for a leader who thrives on growth, clarity, and impact. What You’ll Do Lead and manage Molsoft’s engineering team (frontend, backend, and full-stack), fostering collaboration and continuous learning. Establish scalable technical processes and standards across all projects. Define, implement, and track engineering metrics to drive improvement and accountability. Oversee architectural decisions, tool and stack selection, and ensure scalable implementations across Shopify. Collaborate with project management and operations to manage team resourcing and ensure timely, on-budget delivery. Coach and mentor leads and developers to support growth, execution, and knowledge sharing. Develop onboarding, training, and review processes that build a resilient, motivated team. Partner with sales and recruiting to forecast and fulfill staffing needs. Own and evolve our Shopify approach, including headless builds, custom apps, third-party integrations, and platform standards. Drive alignment between execution and business strategy, turning technical challenges into scalable solutions. Continually improve code quality, testing, and deployment workflows. Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure cohesive, high-impact project outcomes. Stay current with Shopify platform developments, web tech trends, and ecosystem tools. Skills & Experience 6+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, ideally in an agency, consultancy, or eCommerce company. Proven success scaling distributed teams and managing 10+ developers across concurrent projects. Deep familiarity with Shopify Plus (themes, APIs, apps, headless builds). Experience designing scalable stacks and delivery processes, balancing quality and speed. Comfortable managing staffing, career development, performance, and team structure. Skilled at aligning engineering with business priorities and collaborating across departments. Excellent communicator and leader, advocating for engineering needs and team cohesion. Experienced in mentoring leads and guiding architecture in complex Shopify builds. Confident in leading remote, cross‑timezone teams with structured communication systems. Familiar with agency tools (JIRA, Confluence, Slack, GitHub) and iterative delivery cultures.
