Business General Manager Smoke and Sow is hiring a general manager to work on site in Porter Creek. We’re a well-established restaurant with great standing in the community, and we’re looking forward to bringing you aboard You’ll work very closely with our owner and head chef, managing the day-to-day operations of our busy BBQ joint. Job Details Location: Whitehorse, YT – on-site. Start date: as soon as possible. Salary: $23.80 – $37.99 per hour (full-time, permanent). Responsibilities Staff Management: hire, train, schedule, and manage front‑of‑house (servers, bartenders) and back‑of‑house (chefs, kitchen staff). Customer Satisfaction: ensure a positive dining experience, address customer complaints, and implement strategies to improve satisfaction. Financial Management: develop and adhere to budgets, manage expenses, analyze financial reports, and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability. Inventory Control: manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize waste. Operational Efficiency: oversee all aspects of the restaurant’s operation to ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant performance. Quality Assurance: maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and service. Compliance: ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, licensing requirements, and other legal obligations. Strategic Planning: develop and implement strategies to improve restaurant performance, attract new customers, and increase market share. Essential Skills and Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role in a restaurant. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage multiple teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for handling customer complaints and ensuring a positive dining experience. Financial acumen: understanding of budgeting and expense management. Operations management knowledge, including food service, inventory control, and compliance. Problem‑solving: ability to identify and resolve problems effectively and make sound decisions. Communication: excellent written and verbal communication skills. Time management: ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
