The successful candidate will be expected to share responsibility for education in their section, as well as comprehensive clinical services provided at Health Sciences Centre Children’s Hospital. The referral base includes children from the province of Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Western Nunavut. Certification or eligibility for certification in medical microbiology would be an asset. The Department of Pediatrics and Child Health is comprised of more than 100 geographical full-time physicians representing all Pediatric Subspecialties, and includes 7 full time PhD Scientists and over 150 other affiliated Faculty and Medical Staff Members. The Department of Pediatrics & Child Health and the Shared Health Child Health Program collaborate closely with the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba to improve the health and care for children in the province. The Section of Pediatric Infectious Disease is highly regarded for excellence in patient care, education and research with a focus on care to marginalized populations. Outreach and social pediatrics are integral parts of the program that has a strong reputation for inter-disciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care. Responsibilities Support education within the section of Pediatric Infectious Disease and deliver comprehensive clinical services at Health Sciences Centre Children’s Hospital. Provide patient-care services to the referral base including Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Western Nunavut. Contribute to educational programs for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate pediatric residents. Collaborate in research and scholarly activities and participate in interdisciplinary, patient-centered care initiatives. Qualifications Certification or eligibility for certification in pediatrics in the country of current practice; eligible for specialty registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in pediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to collaboration in research and scholarly endeavors. Evidence of a high standard of professionalism.
