Overview Island Health is recruiting a part‑time 0.4 FTE Anesthesiologist to join the team at Comox Valley Hospital, a new 150‑bed community hospital with state‑of‑the‑art facilities. Responsibilities Provide anesthetic services for Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, ECT, cardioversion and emergency intubations in the ER and ICU. Run a consultation clinic and out‑of‑OR Rover position. Weekday on‑site coverage 1500–0800 with mandatory post‑call 2000 and home call thereafter. Weekend and statutory 24‑hour on‑site 0800–1200 coverage. Plan to increase coverage during HR shortages to meet APP requirements. Qualifications Recent (within 6 months) paediatric (2 yrs + ) or obstetrical experience, or a demonstrated plan to update these skills. Flexible to increase coverage at times of HR shortage. Shortlisted candidates should spend a minimum of 1 week in the department as a locum and ideally longer. Successful locum will undergo a thorough 360° assessment; candidates who meet the criteria will be offered an interview. Benefits Fee Premium – 6.93% Annual Flat Fee – $10,739.52 Recruitment Incentive – $4,000 (pro‑rated for 0.4 FTE) Relocation Costs – up to $15,000 (depending on location moving from) Rural CME – $3,000/yr for years 3 & 4; $6,000/yr thereafter Start Date As soon as possible.
