The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician-Investigator and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto and a national leader in complex care. Major clinical programs include Trauma, Oncology, Cardiovascular Sciences, Aging and Veterans Care, Women and Babies, Orthopedics and Arthritis, and Neurosciences. The Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) Division supports these programs, as well as Sunnybrook’s high-volume Nephrology and Thromboembolism services. Responsibilities VIR procedural practice with emphasis on trauma and oncologic interventions, including embolization of pelvic and solid organ injuries. Oncologic interventions focusing on regional cancer therapies: thermal ablation of liver, kidney, and lung tumors; chemoembolization (DEBIRI, DEBDOX, cTACE); bland embolization; and radioembolization. Additional procedures: complex biliary and GI interventions, genitourinary procedures, venous/arterial thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy, dialysis access, and women’s and fertility-related procedures (uterine fibroid embolization, gonadal vein embolization); vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty; venous access. Peripheral arterial work is performed but not the primary focus of the division. Diagnostic responsibilities include non-neuro CTA and MRA, and post-procedural follow-up. Position Type This is a hybrid clinical and research appointment with protected research time. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to research with evidence of scholarly productivity. Advanced research training (ideally a PhD or equivalent) is strongly preferred; however, candidates with a robust and sustained research portfolio will also be considered. Qualifications Medical degree (MD or equivalent). Board-certified or Board-eligible in Diagnostic Imaging from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or an equivalent international qualification. Completed a minimum of two years of fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Facilities The department is equipped with three angiography suites (two Philips Allura FD20 with XperCT/XperGuide and one Philips Allura FD20/10 biplane with Clarity). A fourth biplane angiography suite is expected to be operational in 2027. A hybrid operating room with a single-plane Philips Azurion system supports combined surgical and interventional procedures. Compensation Academic rank and remuneration are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation is based on a fee-for-service model. Estimated income range: $350,000 - $500,000 per annum for a full-time equivalent, with potential for increased salary based on experience and credentials.
