AltaStream delivers integrated energy solutions across prime/standby power generation, renewables, microgrids, BESS, distribution, and energy automation for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients requiring reliable, cost-effective power during the energy transition. Role Summary The Service Director will lead, scale, and optimize AltaStream’s Parts and Service department, overseeing the delivery, support, and lifecycle management of all installed systems, including generators, BESS, microgrids, controls, and hybrid energy platforms. This is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for building a high-performing service organization, ensuring operational excellence, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting company-wide growth initiatives. The Service Director will work closely with Engineering, Product Development, Project Management, and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure seamless execution across all service activities. Key Responsibilities Lead and direct the Parts and Service department, including Field Technicians, Parts and support staff. Provide strategic leadership in service delivery and resource management. Oversee all service activities, including installations, commissioning, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response. Develop and implement service strategies, SOPs, workflow improvements, and quality standards to ensure consistent, safe, and high-quality execution. Ensure peak lifecycle performance of installed systems—gensets, switchgear, controls, BESS, microgrids, and hybrid power systems. Lead complex diagnostics, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives within the department under the guidance of the Executive Leadership Team. Act as a senior escalation point, managing customer relationships and supporting long-term service agreements. Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, and Product teams to align service requirements with design, and upgrades initiatives. Oversee service scheduling, logistics, budgeting and departmental KPIs. Establish training, development, and certification programs for the parts and service team. Ensure full compliance with electrical, mechanical, and safety regulations (CSA, CEC, NEC, OEM requirements, etc.). Support business development by contributing to service proposals, scopes of work, pricing, and long-term maintenance offerings. Provide insights, performance metrics, and strategic updates to the Executive Leadership Team. Education & Experience Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related technical field. 10+ years of experience in power generation, industrial energy systems, or service operations. Proven leadership experience managing service teams within generators, BESS, microgrids, or industrial electrical environments. Strong technical background in gensets, switchgear, controls/SCADA, and distributed energy systems. Demonstrated success implementing service processes, safety programs, and operational workflows. Previous Director, Senior Manager, or supervisory experience required. Qualifications & Skills Strong understanding of power systems, protection, controls, and field service operations. Strategic leadership abilities with strong communication and team-building skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage long-term relationships and escalations. Highly organized with strong documentation, planning, and operational discipline. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Proficiency with service management platforms, SCADA/controls systems, and OEM diagnostic tools. Working Conditions Based at the Burnaby Head Office with regular travel to customer and project sites. Combination of office and field environments; PPE required for field work.
