Job Overview Stantec is seeking a Power Distribution Design Team Lead to head a technical design team in Vancouver, BC, ensuring projects meet and exceed client expectations. Key Responsibilities Understand and ensure client expectations related to project scope are met and exceeded. Establish and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships. Develop project planning documents and client progress reports. Support development of proposals, project cost estimates and project schedules. Coordinate and/or facilitate key meetings or review points—including project kick‑off, IFR/IFC review, constructability review, construction kick‑off, and follow all action items through to completion. Provide proactive project change, risk, and stakeholder management support. Act as the primary technical interface for the projects and provide advice and guidance to the engineering disciplines. Ensure procurement packages are produced in accordance with project cost, schedule and quality requirements. Review project documentation and perform Engineer of Record duties (specifications, IFR/IFC drawings, designs, equipment lists, labor estimates, etc.) prior to issue for accuracy, completeness and presentation. Apply proactive and effective communication with key stakeholders. Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve complex issues where precedent may be limited. Support construction activities. Travel to sites as required; a valid driver’s licence is necessary. Capabilities and Credentials Registered Professional Engineer or Engineering Licensee. Excellent organizational and written/​oral communication skills. Team player who encourages collaboration across disciplines. Strong technical and problem‑solving skills. In‑depth knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems, streetlight design, capital & maintenance projects, and customer new‑connect projects. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently. High initiative and ability to complete tasks on schedule and budget. Capability to challenge specifications and non‑optimal designs and propose value‑added alternatives. Focus on continuous improvement and timely delivery of quality services. Knowledge of project management principles and processes. Experience in project controls and scheduling is an asset. Working knowledge of applicable industry, national, and provincial codes and standards. Proficiency with SAP, GIS tools, Bluebeam, AGI 32, Pull Planner. Experience & Background Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a technical school diploma/certificate, with a minimum of 7 years’ experience. Registered P.Eng with EGBC is required. Previous Distribution Design experience with BC Hydro or a similar Canadian utility. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range (Lower Mainland – BC, GTA & Ottawa): $94,600.00 – $137,100.00 annually. Compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience and location; roles may be bonus eligible.
