Anesthesiologist - Red Deer

Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, and the Department of Anesthesia at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, invites applications for an Anesthesiologist to establish a full‑time practice in the community of Red Deer. Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) provides a comprehensive range of services including general, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology and obstetric surgeries. Cardiac, thoracic, and neurosurgery surgeries are not performed at RDRHC. Care is provided to both adult and pediatric (minimum age of 1) patients with 12,500‑12,750 surgical cases performed annually. The successful candidate will provide anesthesia for elective and trauma surgical procedures; obstetrical and call coverage will also be required. Mentorship and a supportive on‑call program are provided. Opportunities for teaching through the Red Deer‑based family medicine program and anesthesiology resident electives are available. Responsibilities Reside in and have primary residence within the community of Red Deer; Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide services; Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies; Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full‑time participation in the Anesthesia call schedule, as required. Mentorship is provided and a program is in place to ensure the on‑call Anesthesiologist is supported; Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Anesthesia; Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs; Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned; Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care; Community Information Red Deer is a thriving family‑friendly city of over 100,000 people in close proximity to the Rocky Mountains and many other outdoor attractions. It is ideally situated between Edmonton and Calgary, both less than an hour and a half drive away. Desired Qualifications Certified or eligible for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certificate. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
