Senior Finance Officer – Supervisory The Senior Finance Officer – Supervisory plays an important role in keeping the NHC’s financial operations running smoothly and responsibly. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, this position supports day‑to‑day accounting activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and revenue operations while ensuring financial controls are followed and transactions, reconciliations, and reports are accurate and timely. The role is focused on supporting programs and services that make a real difference in the lives of Nunavummiut and their communities. Key Responsibilities Supervising the work of full‑time and casual finance staff; Providing senior financial advice and support to clients and staff; Assessing and evolving financial procedures, internal controls, audit verification processes and reporting; Developing and delivering training to enhance compliance with legislation and policy; Determining needs, planning, conducting or leading ongoing and ad hoc projects; Advising on the correct interpretation and application of financial and applicable legislation, policy, and processes; Supervising the maintenance of accounting records and databases, and the filing, access, return, destruction and archiving of confidential and other records. Qualifications The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a diploma in business administration or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or a similar financial accounting area in a computerized environment. Experience supervising, mentoring and/or providing training and/or guidance to colleagues or subordinate staff is required. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross‑cultural environment are also considered assets. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset.
