About Mount Milligan Mine Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George, BC, Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck‑shovel open‑pit copper and gold mine with a 60,000 tpd capacity flotation plant. The site offers on‑site camp accommodations, bus transportation, and a drug‑ and alcohol‑free workplace. About The Opportunity The Health and Safety Manager reports to the General Manager and leads the development and implementation of health and safety strategies, policies, and practices at the Mount Milligan Mine site. The role requires continual improvement of safety programs, monitoring of safety metrics, and fostering open communication with the management team. Your Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of the site’s health and safety culture, strategy, and policies. Direct the Health, Safety, and Security Team, Training Department, Medical Clinic, and Mine Rescue Team. Monitor financial allocations for health and safety initiatives. Oversee integration of safety processes and tools to enhance effectiveness in all work areas. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety practices into daily operations. Provide interpretation and guidance on health and safety regulations. Support operating departments in maintaining compliance and addressing deficiencies. Propose economically feasible solutions to health and safety issues. Liaise with regulatory agencies, mine inspectors, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. About You Relevant university degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in health and safety management, preferably in mining. Experience with Isometrix and SAP software is advantageous. Exhaustive knowledge of green and brownfield mining projects and related construction risks. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Valid Canadian Driver’s License. Pre‑employment testing required. Working Conditions Camp‑based role with 4x3 or 7x7 shift schedules. Extended shifts up to 12 hours per day. Occasional exposure to hazardous environments; PPE required. Zero‑tolerance drug & alcohol policy. Bus transportation provided from Prince George, Fort St. James, and Mackenzie.
