BW/4HANA Upgrade Initiative Responsibilities Architect, design, develop, and support business solutions leveraging SAP BW 7.5 and SAP BW/4HANA 2021/2023. Demonstrate industry-specific business process knowledge and familiarity with enterprise strategies and objectives. Proactively identify process improvements and define clear, concise solutions. Build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse business, functional, and technical teams. Communicate complex solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders and apply smart design techniques. Testing & Validation (Upgrade-Focused): Plan and execute comprehensive validations across lower environments (DEV/QA/UAT) for the BW/4HANA upgrade. Investigate and remediate any upgrade-related issues discovered in lower environments; coordinate with SAP Support (e.g., OSS notes/service desk) as needed to resolve defects. Prepare detailed test scripts covering data models, ETL/replication, process chains, queries/Analysis for Office (AO) workbooks, authorizations, and scheduling. Record and track test execution and defects in the tool (e.g., HP ALM), ensuring prompt updates, reproducible steps, evidence, and closure notes. Lead or contribute to cutover rehearsals, performance/regression tests, and data reconciliation between BW/4HANA and source/target systems. Provide clear go/no-go input based on test outcomes and documented risk assessments. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in IT analysis or consulting, translating business requirements into technical solutions. 10+ years of hands-on experience with SAP BW, including business process analysis, systems design, and technical/functional delivery (configuration and custom development). Expertise in SAP BW 7.5, BW/4HANA 2021/2023, and SAP Analysis for Office (AO) (workbook design, performance tuning, and compatibility checks post-upgrade). Detailed knowledge of major business processes and BW functionality associated with ECC FI and CO domains. Strong SAP development methodologies, troubleshooting, and issue resolution skills, with a solid understanding of S/4HANA. Proven ability to develop complex SAP solutions (info providers, ADSOs, CompositeProviders, Calculation/Restricted Key Figures, Process Chains, BW/4HANA objects). Demonstrated experience leading validation/test cycles for SAP upgrades or migrations, including defect triage, root-cause analysis, and SAP Support engagement (OSS notes, kernel/patch coordination). Hands-on experience with ALM tools (e.g., HP ALM, Jira/Xray) for test script management, execution tracking, and defect lifecycle. Experience with performance testing and tuning (query optimization, aggregation, partitions, process chain performance). Willingness to share knowledge and mentor team members. Passion for delivering well-designed solutions that exceed business objectives. Excellent communication skills to explain complex ideas clearly. Experience in the consumer retail domain preferred.
