Entry Level Laboratory Technician LIMS

Start laboratory work with SGS in the Peterborough or Lakefield area, using LIMS and preparing samples for analysis. Rotating shifts include days, evenings, and some weekends.

This entry-level Laboratory Technician position requires no experience. You will support Environmental Services laboratory operations through sample reception, identification, preparation, dilutions, analytical batches, and quality control. The work emphasizes accurate data handling, equipment setup, and safe procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Log, identify, catalog, store, retrieve, and dispose of samples
• Prepare samples, standards, reagents, dilutions, and analytical batches
• Calibrate, set up, maintain, and record laboratory equipment
• Interpret results and monitor equipment maintenance and supplies
• Follow quality, health, safety, environmental, and cleanliness protocols

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Science post-secondary education considered a strong asset
• Working knowledge of LIMS and computer software
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure
