Position Overview This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only. The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut that serves the housing needs of the territory’s growing population. NHC’s mandate is to create, coordinate, and administer housing programs to provide fair access to affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. Recently, NHC launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy ( to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030. Responsibilities The position provides accounting services such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue operations, analyses, reports, and financial advice and support to clients. Work is performed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and collective agreements to ensure quality financial and client services, and to meet the Government of Nunavut’s financial and service goals. Key duties include: Processing timely and accurate payments to employees and suppliers. Ensuring secure handling and deposit of revenues. Preparing accurate financial reports for management decision‑making. Providing financial expertise and delivering training to Corporation employees on the correct interpretation and application of financial legislation, policy, and processes. Advising program managers on a wide range of accounting, budgeting, program contracting, grants and contributions, payroll, and related issues. Entering data into various systems from source documents, determining appropriate accounts and coding, and verifying available funds. Qualifications • Completion of a college diploma in a related field. • Minimum of 2 years of relevant finance experience in a computerized environment. • Demonstrated experience providing advisory services to clients. • Proficiency with financial systems, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs to produce accurate financial reports and documents. Languages The Official Languages of Nunavut – Inuktut, English, and French – are required for applicants. Fluency in more than one of the official languages is considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross‑cultural environment are also considered assets.
