Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Engineering Technologist with design experience to join our team in a full-time capacity at our St. Catharines location. The ideal candidate will work closely with the lead engineer to conceptualize, design, and develop innovative products for our clients, with hands-on involvement in the prototyping and testing phases.

This role offers exceptional opportunities for professional growth across the entire product development lifecycle. Beyond core design skills, you'll gain hands-on experience in:

  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and implementation
  • Material selection and optimization

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to product concept development, brainstorming, and problem solving
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis
  • Design products in CAD using Autodesk Inventor
  • Create technical drawings and specifications
  • Assist in creating prototypes using 3D printers, CNC machines, and other shop equipment
  • Conduct product testing and validation
  • Document and analyze test results to improve designs
  • Assist with the creation of user manuals, photorealistic product renders, and other supporting material

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • 2-4 years of experience in product design and development
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling and technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and DFM principles
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping methods including 3D printing and CNC machining
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts into practical designs
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Excellent time management with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Passion for product design and willingness to see projects through from concept to reality
  • Curiosity-driven approach with enthusiasm for learning new skills and technologies
  • Adaptability to work across diverse industries and project types
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Comfort moving between computer-based design work and hands-on production tasks
