Manager, Campus Recreation and Facility Development Job Type: Employee Location: Main Campus Open Positions: 1 Hours: 35 per week Salary Range: $104,880.00 - $131,101.00 Job Summary: Provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of campus recreation programs, facilities, and staff. Ensures delivery of inclusive, innovative, and sustainable recreational experiences that support student well‑being, foster community engagement, and align with the University of Ottawa’s mission. This includes all fitness and instructional programs, aquatic programming, intramurals, and camps. Responsibilities Provide strategic representation for campus recreation within the senior leadership team ensuring optimal resource utilization and contributing to department-wide decisions that shape the strategic direction, mission, and objectives of Recreation and Varsity Sports (RVS). Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of campus recreation programs for students, staff, and the external community ensuring alignment with strategic goals, budgetary targets, and performance metrics. Drive the strategic planning and development of sport and recreation infrastructure in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders ensuring facilities meet current and future demands of the university and its partners. Perform high‑level analysis of program and facility needs, benchmarking against industry standards and trends to inform strategic decisions that address the unique needs of the University of Ottawa population. Oversee the strategic allocation of facility resources for all RVS programming ensuring equitable access and alignment with organizational priorities. Foster cross-functional collaboration with senior management across RVS sectors to optimize shared resources and achieve integrated departmental objectives in areas such as Marketing, Promotion, Communication, High Performance, IT, Operations, Finance and Human Resources. Develop and manage the budget and resources allocated in alignment with the RVS annual strategic plan ensuring financial sustainability and effective use of allocated funds. Provide strategic leadership in revenue generation through campus recreation programming setting short and long-term goals to enhance internal and external funding streams. Lead the recruitment, development and performance management of recreation staff fostering a high-performing team culture aligned with departmental values and objectives. Qualifications University degree in sport management, business administration, recreation or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Five years of experience working in a recreational sports, fitness or athletics environment in a supervisory capacity. Five years of experience in human resource and financial management. Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written). Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategies. Extensive experience in leading and executing several projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks often under tight deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills exhibiting diplomacy and tact, excellent negotiating, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Planet Fitness Assistant General Manager – Timmins Location: Timmins, ON Overview: Assistant Manager responsible for assisting in the oversight of club operations to ensure an exceptional judgement‑free member experience. Works closely with the Club Manager to build a positive team atmosphere and a financially successful club. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing a high‑performing staff consisting of Member Service Representatives, Trainers and Custodians. Assist in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests and ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines. Assist with staff management and provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed. Assist in scheduling and supervising staff to ensure all shifts are regularly covered. Ensure staff is providing a superior customer experience at all times. Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns. Assist in approving and processing weekly club payroll and preparing necessary paperwork in a timely manner. Provide backup support to any employee who is absent. Lead by example with involvement in all front desk related activities. Greet members and guests, provide exceptional customer service to ensure that everyone feels welcome. Answer phone calls in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions. Check members into the system, tour and sign up new members, log amenities and communicate updates or events to members and guests. Facilitate all member requests and help to resolve any member issues and questions. Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, including front desk area and lobby, and participate in regular facility cleaning. Assist in overseeing the safety of employees, members and club property by addressing equipment or facility repairs and communicating to the Facilities and Maintenance team. Assist in ordering of supplies using a specific budget based on club requirements. Assist in tracking various statistics and reports on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. Assist in managing marketing efforts to ensure that all staff are aware and trained on all marketing promotions. Other duties as assigned based on club needs. Qualifications and Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma/GED equivalent required. One to two years of experience working in a customer service environment, preferably in a similar gym or retail environment. Current CPR certification required. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite). Strong customer service and problem resolution skills. Solid supervisory diplomacy and listening skills. Hard working, enthusiastic, energetic and a passion for health and fitness. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Must have a valid driver’s licence and acceptable driver record, and own reliable means of transportation. Physical Demands Continual standing and walking; continual talking in person or on the phone; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs; occasional exposure to toxic chemicals. Introduce self‑guided wellness experiences via digital integration, app‑enabled workouts and guided routines. Track program engagement and ROI using data‑driven insights to refine and evolve offerings. Represent Rimrock Banff in luxury wellness networks and industry events, positioning the property as a destination of intentional wellbeing. Qualifications 3 years of progressive leadership experience in luxury hospitality, wellness programming or fitness operations. Certification in personal training, yoga, group fitness or related wellness disciplines. A holistic wellness vision that balances strength, mobility, mindfulness and recovery. Experience curating luxury wellness experiences with a guest‑first mindset. Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build and inspire teams. Operational acumen in budgeting, scheduling, safety compliance and facility management. Passion for wellness storytelling and the ability to engage guests on their personal journeys. Experience opening or relaunching wellness-focused facilities. Exposure to spa retreat or destination wellness programming. Knowledge of luxury travel and wellness trends.
