What You’ll Be Doing As an Associate in Mid-Market Investment Banking at CIBC, you will support the execution of active merger, acquisition, divestiture, and capital‑raising advisory mandates. Your responsibilities include gathering information, assisting with marketing materials, analyzing financial implications, and supporting the due diligence process through transaction close. This role can be based out of Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton. How You’ll Succeed Collaboration: Support managing directors and team members in transaction execution, business development presentations, and meetings across diverse industries. Workflows: Create confidential information memorandums, management presentations, client proposals, pitch books, and marketing materials. Prepare detailed financial models and research industry trends. Analysis: Perform valuation using comparable trading analysis, precedent transaction analysis, discount cash flow analysis, and other metrics. Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis and industry research. Networking: Develop and cultivate relationships with peers at financial institutions, private equity groups, industry associations, and other professionals to promote CIBC’s interests. Who You Are Education: Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline and a professional designation (e.g., CPA, CBV, CFA). Industry Experience: 3–5 years of investment banking, M&A transaction advisory, due diligence support, private equity, or corporate development experience. Technical Skills: Strong financial modeling and analysis, presentation, and written communication skills. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, and CapIQ. Detail Oriented: Ability to work independently on multiple files simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. Values: Demonstrate trust, teamwork, and accountability.
